Tips for the 1st United Car Sale

Tagged as: Everything Auto

Be prepared for a smooth car-buying process

1st United Credit Union hosts car sales with local dealerships throughout the year. Watch for announcements of our next sale.

We want to make sure you are prepared to purchase your new vehicle at the car sale with these tips:

Get pre-approved

Before the event, apply for a loan with 1st United. You may apply online, at a branch, or by calling us at (800) 649-0193. By getting pre-approved before buying, you will know how much you can afford and get the best interest rate.

Things to bring

  • Not getting pre-approved? Make sure to bring your driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • In some situations, your income may need to be verified. It's helpful if you bring a recent paycheck stub, just in case.

Trade ins

If you are trading in a vehicle, make sure to bring the registration and title, if you own it.

Calculating payments

Remember to estimate car sales tax, registration fees, and any other add-ons like GAP insurance to your payment. You can use the 1st United auto loan payment calculator to help you figure out what your payment will be.

Research

Use our free AutoSMART website that lets you research and find the car you want before you buy. (Note that some car sales are in partnership with a local dealership and the vehicle you would like might not be available).

Insurance

Contact your insurance company that day. Most insurance companies let you change your policy online. If not, call them to let them know about your new vehicle and, if financed, that 1st United is the lienholder.
