Phishing Scam Targeting 1st United Members
October 9, 2017
Several members and non-members contacted us about a text they received from what appears to be 1st United Credit Union asking the recipient to call a phone number that is not ours.
1st United Credit Union does not send unsolicited text messages. If you receive a text that appears suspicious, please delete the text and do not call the phone number. If you are unsure if the text is legitimate, please contact us.
If you have already called the phone number and provided any personal or account information, please call us immediately at (800) 649-0193 so that we can help to protect your accounts.
It’s good practice to scrutinize the legitimacy of emails, calls, and text messages. Fraudsters are tricky and sometimes it’s hard to tell if the request is real.
A reminder to never provide account numbers, Social Security numbers or any personal information to strangers. If you are not sure who is contacting you, don’t give out your information.
