1st United has a long history of supporting our community. We believe our purpose is greater than offering competitive financial products and excellent member service. It extends to volunteerism, supporting local schools, and safeguarding the financial future of children and families in our community.
In fact, our employees commit to volunteering during work hours at 1st United-sponsored volunteer events. Staff can be seen helping out at local schools, packing and sorting food at Alameda County Community Food Bank, and teaching financial education to Alameda County Family Justice Center Step Up participants, among other things. We feel volunteering is a priority and we do what we can to make time for it.
Additionally, 1st United donates to local charities including Alameda County Community Food Bank, community sponsorships, and monetary and toy donations to Toys for Tots.
For those who may not know, the credit union movement began over 100 years ago with a simple idea of People Helping People. We believe volunteering and giving back to our community is a core component of that philosophy and will continue to find new ways to help out. Watch for 1st United in your neighborhood and when you see us, be sure to say, “Hello.”
If you have any questions about our community service program or would like to invite 1st United to volunteer for your non-profit group, please email us. Together, we can all make a difference.
